Applications are invited for the following temporary Scientific posts:-
[1] Scientist D (Botany Group) Plant Sciences
Division. Qualification: Essential: i) At least 1st Class M.Sc./
M. Pharm in Pharmacology/ Biochemistry, ii) 8 years R&D experience.. Desirable: i) Ph.D. in
Pharmacology/Biochemistry, ii) Knowledge of at least one foreign language other
than English and iii) 2 years experience and publication in the field of
pre-clinical and toxicological studies in laboratory animals with evidence of
publication in reputed journals. Job
Requirements: Ability to plan research work, maintenance of animal house

[2] Scientist D (Chemistry Group) Animal Sciences
Division. Qualification: Essential: i) At least 1st Class M.Sc.
in Organic Chemistry, ii) 8
years R&D experience. Desirable: i) Ph.D. in Organic
Chemistry, ii) Knowledge of at least one foreign language other than English
and iii) Experience in Natural Product Chemistry and publication of papers in
reputed journals. Job Requirements: Isolation, purification & analysis of
phytochemicals, Structure elucidation of novel molecules. Interpretation of screening results to evolve
structure-activity relationship, Total, formal or partial synthesis of
biomolecules. formulation of project proposals for obtaining extramural

[3] Scientist B (6 posts out of which 2 are reserved
for OBC non-creamy layer and 1 for SC) for DST Project on `National Facility
for Culture Collection of Fungi’ in Mycology Group (period initially up to
March 2013, likely to be continued) as detailed below:
SCI. ‘B’ (Post I): Essential: 1st Class M. Sc. in Botany/Mycology/Plant Pathology
Desirable:(i) Ph.D. in Botany/Mycology/Plant Pathology (ii) 2-3 years research experience in handling pure culture of fungi and their identification with evidence of publication in reputed journal. Job Requirement: Collection, characterization and optimization of in-vitro culture conditions of Aquatic and /or Terrestrial Fungi (Zoosporic, Hyphomycetes / Coelomycetes) OR Myxomycetes for their preservation & maintenance using modern techniques.
SCI. B (Post II):Essential:1st Class M. Sc. in Botany/Mycology/Plant Pathology Desirable: (i) Ph.D. in Botany/Mycology/Plant Pathology (ii) 2-3 years of research experience in collection and identification of Lichenized Fungi (Lichens) with evidence of publication in reputed journal. Job Requirement: Collection, herbarium preparation, detail morphological and anatomical characterization and in-vitro culture of Lichens.

SCI. B (Post III): Essential:1st Class M. Sc. in Botany/Mycology & Plant Pathology/ Biotechnology Desirable: (i) Ph.D. in Botany/Mycology &Plant Pathology/ Biotechnology (ii) 2-3 years experience in handling of sophisticated equipments used in molecular characterization Job Requirements: In-vitro culture, morphological and molecular characterization of fungi using modern molecular tools with evidence of publication in reputed journal.
SCI. B (Post IV): Essential:1st Class M. Sc. in Botany/Mycology /Plant Pathology. Desirable: (i) Ph.D. in Botany/Mycology /Plant Pathology (ii) 2-3 years working experience with MACRO FUNGI. Job Requirements: Exploration, collection, morphological characterization of MACRO FUNGI (Basidiomycetes), their in-vitro culture and screening for biological activity with evidence of publication in reputed journal.
SCI. B (Post V): Essential: 1st Class M. Sc. in Botany/Physiology/Biochemistry. Biotechnology. Desirable: (i) Ph.D. in Botany/Physiology/Biochemistry/ Biotechnology. (ii) 2-3 years research experience and well-versed in handling analytical equipments. Job Requirements: Optimization of different culture conditions, fermentation and extraction of metabolites/enzymes from fungi and their screening for various biological activities with evidence of publication in reputed journal.
SCI. B (Post VI): Essential: 1st Class MCA/MCM/Bio-informatics,
etc. Desirable: Experience in database management and software development. Job
Requirements: Development of comprehensive & user friendly
software/inventory database for fungi, data entry, etc. [Code: Sc.B, DST Project,

General conditions : Age
limits in years Sc.B-35, Sc.D-45, relaxable by 3/5 years for OBC/SC, ST & 5
yrs. for employee applying through proper channel. Further age relaxation may
be considered in case of deserving and highly experienced candidates.
Pay-scales: Sc.B Rs.8000-275-13500 + admissible allowances (TME Rs.20480/-
approx), & Sc.D Rs.12000-375-16500 (TME Rs.30200/- approx). Candidates
fulfilling above conditions may apply in the prescribed format available on the

with attested copies of qualifications, certificates, Passport size
photograph, and application fee of Rs.100/- payable by Demand Draft only in
favour of Director, ARI, Pune, before 31.05.2008. Canvassing in any form and/or bringing in
any influence political or otherwise will be treated as a disqualification for
the post. The prescribed essential
qualifications are a bare minimum and mere possession of the same will not
entitle the candidate to be called for interview. In case number of applications received in
response to an advertisement is large, it may not be convenient or possible for
the Institute to interview all the candidates.
The Institute may restrict the number of candidates to be called for
interview to a reasonable limit, on the basis of qualifications and experience
higher than the minimum prescribed in the advertisement. Interim enquiries will not be responded.
