Plant Drug Authentication Service

The Botany group of Agharkar Research Institute, Pune is providing authentication service for plant drug samples for academic purpose to students, researchers, clinicals and pharmaceuticals on request at nominal charges. As a part of Good Laboratory practices (GLP), the authentication of plant material by using recently accepted Latin name is pre-requisite for research, clinical trials and scientific publications. In addition to this deposition of authenticated sample in repository for future reference is another requirement. Depending upon the type of sample and protocol available taxonomical, organoleptic, macroscopic, microscopic, powder analysis, chromatographic studies are carried out to authenticate the sample.

 

Sample submission and reporting

1. The sample must be dried and packed; it must be free from foreign matter. The sample requirement is 100 g for authentication and 250 g for voucher deposition. The sample in powdered form is not acceptable.
2. Labeling of sample

i.                     Name of the sender

ii.                   Name of the sample (botanical, vernacular or local)

iii.                  Date of collection

iv.                 Locality for field sample / Name of trader and address for market sample.

3. The covering letter, sample and sample submission form for authentication or voucher deposition are to be submitted to Dr. (Mrs.) A.S. Upadhye, Botany Group Agharkar Research Institute, G.G. Agarkar road, Pune 411 004.
4. Payment: By cash or DD drawn on the name of Director, Agharkar Research Institute, Pune; payable at Pune.

i.                     For academic purpose the charges are Rs.300 plus tax 12.36% i.e. Rs. 337/ (Three hundred and thirty seven only)

ii.                   For Pharmaceuticals and commercial purpose the charges are Rs. 2500 plus tax 12.36% i.e. Rs. 2810/- (Two thousand eight hundred and ten only)/sample.
